Things are getting brighter every day, which has us very excited at SwapThing. The big news is that the SwapThing community is growing faster than ever, touting more than 120,000 items. Last month we had a 341% increase in the number of swaps and a 161% increase in the number of new Swappers. Add a bookmark to our front page and check back often to see what new and exciting items and services are available.

As fellow Swappers spread the word, folks are catching on and enlisting in the Swap Revolution. Partners Krohn (Music), FinylVinyl (Music), GreenNoise (Music), 3BTech (Computers), NewTown (Video), Kate1031 (Art), and ClasEProfessor (Educational Supplies) are all contributing to the SwapThing community. The Music section is by far our most popular category at this juncture, as it is loaded with over 85,000 items. So, all you collectors and audiophiles have plenty to choose from while adding to your collections, or simply finding that blast-from-the-past to stir up those old memories.

Another big contributor to the SwapThing growth is the press coverage we have recently received. There has been a spike in the number of registered users and visitors since we were featured in a front-page story in The Boston Globe about the resurgence of Silicon Valley, and amongst the “30 Things You Didn't Know You Could Do on the Internet” in the July 2005 issue of PC World magazine. The good buzz about SwapThing is spreading fast, be it in the press or word-of-mouth, so expect more growth and changes in the weeks to come.

Speaking of changes, here at SwapThing we believe that Swapping can empower communities and those less fortunate than us. In the spirit of building and empowering community, we are happy to announce the launch of the ShareThing Non-Profit Program. ShareThing is designed for non-profit organizations to raise awareness and gain support in their local community by receiving much-needed items/cash via Swapping. With the SwapThing system, non-profit organizations simply create a “wish list” of items or cash donations needed, then registered SwapThing users are able to donate and contribute, all while helping out and receiving a tax-deductible receipt. We believe that it should never cost to give or receive gifts from the heart, so there are no charges to either the donating party or the members of ShareThing. Swapping is more than getting something; it's also about giving something.

With the Swapping culture quickly becoming part of the social fabric of commerce, our users have an opportunity to drive this movement and help the community.
